• ACTLAA 2009/10 SEASON AWARDS
  Woden Little Athletics Club Committee members and athletes attended the ACTLAA annual awards dinner on Sunday, 18 April, during which the Club received the following FOUR awards:

  - ACTLAA Board of Management Centre of the Year Award for 2009-10 (for the third year running),
  This award is made to the Centre which, in the judgement of the Board, has made the greatest contribution over the past year to the furtherance of the aims, repuration and good governance of the ACTLAA. The following is taken into consideration:

  • 1. The Centre's increase in registrations compared to previous year or years.
  • 2. The weekly meetings conducted by the Centre, including participation, innovation and facilities provided.
  • 3. Members of the Centre undertaking coaching, officiating, sports administration and first aid courses.
  • 4. Centre members serving on the ACTLAA Board of Management and Association subcommittees.
  • 5. Participation in ACTLAA carnivals by athletes and officials from the Centre.
  • 6. Other contributions to the furtherance of the aims, reputation and good governance of the ACTLAA.
  
  - Milo Southside Shield,
  This shield is based on points accumulated at the Southside championships by the Centre's athletes. Points are 17 for 1st, 13 for 2nd, 11 for 3rd, 9 for 4th, 8 for 5th, 7 for 6th, and so on down to 1 point for 12th.
  
  - ACTLAA Chairman's Trophy,
  This trophy is calculated by the number of points accumulated at ACT State Championships multiplied by the number of qualifiers divided by the number of registrations, and
  
  - Champion Centre
  This is based on overall points winner from the ACT State Championships, with points allocated as per those awarded in the Southside Shield.
  

  This is the first time Woden has been awarded the last three awards. The receipt of these awards is largely due to a long term effort over a number of years from the club, athletes, coaches, parents and past committee members.

  Congratulations to everyone involved in achieving these shields and trophies for the club and for the continued support to build such a strong club. The shields and trophies will be proudly on display during registration for the 2010-11 season for everyone to share and see.
